It’s big. It’s bold. It’s gutsy. The Superhero Tri is one of the highlights of our year at my AFK, and it’s part of the UK’s one and only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero!

A triathlon is a three-stage race: first a swim, usually in open water; then a bike stage; then a final push/run stage. The challenges are accessible and open to any kind of support – there are no cut-off times and all types of gadgets and gismos are welcome, from day chairs, handcycles, walking frames and trikes to tandems, race runners, blades and bikes.

At the Superhero Tri there are three different ways to take part. You can do a whole triathlon solo, or team up with friends and family and do one stage each as a relay. You could also tow your Superhero around the entire course in the Sidekick Tri.

There are also 3 distances you can take on:

Superhero Sprint

  • Swim 150m
  • Bike 3km
  • Push/Run 1km

Superhero Half

  • Swim 400m
  • Bike 10km
  • Push/Run 2.5km

Full Superhero Tri

  • Swim 750m
  • Bike 20km
  • Push/Run 5km
