Disabled children and young people across the UK lead the life they choose thanks to you.

Children as young as toddlers right through to young people up to 26 are more independent thanks to the volunteers, donors, and staff that all make a difference in the lives of people affected by disability. You are all at the centre of what AFK does, and your trust in AFK is essential to bringing lasting change.

Your info

AFK sometimes need to take details about you, such as your name, address and contact details. This is to ensure that we can stay in touch with you, and keep reliable records. For our data protection and privacy policy please click here.

AFK will never sell your personal information to anybody. As an organisation working with vulnerable people, we are careful to follow our Vulnerable Person Policy with everyone that we interact with.

Any other organisations that we use to help us to carry out our mission will be monitored to ensure that they are legally compliant.

Your support

AFK relies upon voluntary donations to bring about change for disabled young people as we receive no government funding.

In order to fund our work across the UK, we need over £2 million a year, which we fundraise from a variety of sources. Some of these include members of the public, and we have clear guidelines for how we contact people:

  • Post – We will mail you up to five times a year – unless you ask us not to.
  • Email – We will only send you emails if you have agreed to receive them.
  • Phone – We will only make phone calls to you if you have agreed to receive them, up to three times a year.

We also follow the Code of Fundraising Practice and the The Fundraising PromiseWe are also registered with the Fundraising Regulator.

New legislation called GDPR (the General Data Protection Regulation) updated data protection and privacy laws to gve you more control over who holds information about you and what they do with it.

AFK updated its own policies to reflect this updated law. You can read our GDPR policy here.

AFK is a public charity, and you can see how we use your money in our publicly available accounts.

You can always find out more about what we’re doing by signing up to our regular emails.

If you have a question, comment or suggestion that’s not covered above, then please contact us.
